Model, producer, lecturer and teacher, born January 27, in Santa Monica, California, Jim Crawford began his career in the fashion industry more than 36 years ago. In the late ’60s Jim worked in sales and management for local retail clothing stores. He moved to San Diego in 1968 to complete his degree towards a teaching career. He started working for a chain of men’s clothing stores where he became their image representative, modeling for print, TV, and fashion events, his first signed modeling contract and modeling for all major stores, special events, major print ads in National magazines.
In the late ’70s, he started his own production company, coached modeling in the early ’80s, produced events for Saks 5th Avenue, major charity events, PSA Airlines grand openings, Monte Carlo Nite, Jewel Ball and much, much more. In addition, he was the Special Consultant for Macy’s, a large department retail chain, coordinating their fashion events in southern California. He has produced “The Golden Hanger Fashion Awards” Gala, benefiting the Make a Wish Foundation for 15 years running.
Today, Jim continues coaching for modeling schools, for the pageant circuits and major agencies in southern California. In 2014 he was named the official coach of Miss California USA after years of success coaching so many of the talented women competing in Miss California USA, Miss California Teen USA, Miss USA & Miss Teen USA. To name a few, Miss Teen USA 2013, Cassidy Wolf, Miss California USA 2013 Mabelynn Capeluj, Miss USA 1st runner up 2009, Carrie Prejean and many more.
He recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in the field of fashion and helping others achieve their dreams. There is nothing that Jim cannot accomplish and we are very proud and honored to have him at our school.
