Aladdin Movie Review

  By Jake Palid

Today I’m going to be reviewing Aladdin. Now this is a reboot of the 1992 version of Aladdin.

Aladdin is a street rat who meets Princess Jasmine the beautiful daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. While visiting her exotic palace, Aladdin stumbles upon a old magic lamp that unleashes a powerful wisecracking, larger than human genie. Aladdin and the genie start to become friends, they must soon embark on a dangerous mission to stop the evil sorcerer Jafar from overthrowing Jasmine’s kingdom. And Aladdin uses one of his three wishes he gets in the movie to try to impress Jasmine that he is a prince. Which he is not.  This movie was actually good, I enjoyed it if I gave a grade for it I give it a B because I liked the original movie. And this one is kind’ve the same as the original there is nothing really new about it. There are some new characters, and there’s one new song that was not from the original that’s pretty much it. Will Smith plays the Genie in this live-action version of Aladdin. Smith does a decent job playing the genie he’s not really as good as Robin Williams. I really like how he made his own version of the genie compared to Williams. Mena Massoud plays Aladdin, and he does a great job at playing Aladdin, also he looks exactly like Aladdin. Naomi Scott plays Princess Jasmine in this movie and she did a great job. Marwan Kenzari plays Jafar he does a decent job at playing this role. Overall this was an okay reboot of the movie. Although I would’ve like if they had Gilbert Gottfried come back to voice the parrot Iago in this one. And he is not in this one. They have Alan Tudyk voicing Iago, and I really didn’t like him voicing this character.  Kids can enjoy this movie even if they never even seen the original version I would recommend them to see the original.
